Steven Moffat’s new series has been dividing audiences. <\/p>

Steven Moffat\u2019s new comedy-drama series Douglas Is Cancelled<\/a> is now available to stream in full on ITVX, and viewers have been having their say on the series.<\/p>\n

The four-part series sees Hugh Bonneville play Douglas, a TV presenter who is accused on Twitter, which has been re-branded as X, of making a sexist joke. Meanwhile, Karen Gillan plays a pivotal role as Madeline, Douglas\u2019s co-presenter.<\/p>\n

As viewers weigh in on the series on social media, it has become clear that there\u2019s a wide-range of opinions, although they appear to be landing more on the negative side.<\/p>\n

One viewer reacted<\/a>: \u201cI had high hopes for <\/span>#DouglasIsCancelled<\/span> but it\u2019s terrible. I\u2019m not sure [Steven] Moffat and primetime ITV is a sensible combination. The dialogue is unnatural, and it\u2019s full of generational clich\u00e9s and lame gags. I\u2019m sorry but for me, Douglas Is Cancelled is\u2026 erm, cancelled.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Another said<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m streaming the first ep of <\/span>#DouglasIsCancelled<\/span> \u2013 it\u2019s written like a play, constant dialogue, people talking loud and fast at each other without moving the plot forward at all. So far I hate it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Another added that they felt the show was \u201c<\/a>the worst thing Steven Moffat has written\u201d<\/a>, while a number of viewers criticised the depiction of Douglas\u2019s teenage daughter as \u201ccrass\u201d and \u201cunrealistic\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

One viewer<\/a> said that they \u201cgave up on <\/span>#DouglasIsCancelled<\/span> after less than two episodes\u201d, calling the script \u201cinfuriating and frustrating\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, one more positive reaction read<\/a>: \u201cJust finished <\/span>#DouglasIsCancelled<\/span> and what a phenomenal show with more twists and turns than an episode of Sherlock. Fast intense pacing without the need for action, showcasing the best talent tv has. <\/span>@karengillan <\/span>absolutely owned this show. A Big slay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another called<\/a> it \u201ca magnificent portrait of modern life\u201d, while one viewer<\/a> branded it \u201cextraordinary telly\u201d, praising Gillan as being \u201cvulnerable and powerful in the same instant\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
