Since filming officially kicked off earlier this year, HBO Max has announced a slew of cast updates, with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood\u2019s Brenda Vaccaro and Broadway star Ivan Hernandez joining as new characters.<\/p>\n
Back in July, Modern Love\u2019s Isaac Powell, Game Shakers star Cree Cicchino, Ramy\u2019s Cathy Ang, Curb Your Enthusiasm<\/a>\u2018s Niall Cunningham, Hamilton\u2019s Christopher Jackson and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel\u2019s LeRoy McClain were all revealed as new Sex and the City cast<\/a> members.<\/p>\n Of course, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are reprising their roles as Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda, while Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch, was set to return however as he sadly died at the end of last month<\/a>, it is unclear whether his scenes were completed before passing.<\/p>\n If you couldn\u2019t help but wonder when the series will be returning, how to watch Sex and the City<\/a>\u2018s original series and which cast members are returning, read on for everything you need to know.<\/p>\n We finally have an airdate for the Sex and the City sequel \u2013 and it\u2019s not too far away!<\/p>\n HBO confirmed earlier this week that the 10-parter will arrive on HBO Max in the UK in\u00a0December.<\/strong><\/p>\n While there isn\u2019t a UK premiere date just yet, we\u2019re hoping Sex and the City: And Just Like That will cross the pond around the same time.<\/p>\n The series was officially announced via the social media accounts of the three main stars in January 2021 and followed weeks of rumours that a revival was in the works at the streaming service.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll keep you updated as and when more official details become available.<\/p>\n The series will be available to watch on HBO Max, the streaming service from HBO which is currently only available in the US.\u00a0For US viewers, a subscription is available for $14.99 a month.<\/p> Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte) will be back to reprise their seminal roles in the Sex and the City cast<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, Kim Cattrall won\u2019t be returning as Samantha<\/a>, Parker confirmed on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cSamantha isn\u2019t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do,\u201d she wrote in reply to a fan\u2019s comment.<\/p>\n Mr Big will be back though, with Chris Noth confirmed to be joining the sequel. Executive producer Michael Patrick King recently told Deadline<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be working with Chris again on And Just Like That\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHow could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?\u201d<\/p>\n Willie Garson, who played Stanford Blatch in the series, was spotted filming scenes for the reboot prior to his death last month<\/a> so hopefully we will get to see him in what will be his last TV role.<\/p>\n Fans can expect a few new characters to make their Sex and the City debut in the upcoming series, including Grey\u2019s Anatomy star Sara Ram\u00ecrez who\u2019ll play Che Diaz \u2013 a non-binary, queer stand-up comedian who regularly invites Carrie onto her podcast, according to Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cChe is a big presence with a big heart whose outrageous sense of humour and progressive, human overview of gender roles has made them and their podcast very popular,\u201d the publication writes.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone at And Just Like That \u2026 is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ram\u00edrez has joined the Sex and the City family,\u201d said executive producer King. \u201cSara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama \u2013 and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show.\u201d<\/p>\n The show will also feature Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman as new castings, according to TV Line<\/a>.<\/p>\n HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys said the creative team \u201cdidn\u2019t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast\u201d because \u201cit\u2019s not reflective of New York. So they are being very, very conscious about understanding that New York has to reflect the way New York looks today\u201d (via TV Line<\/a>).<\/p>\n As for other additions to the cast, Brenda Vaccaro is set to play Mr. Big\u2019s long-time secretary Gloria Marquette, while Ivan Hernandez will play Franklyn, a sound engineer working on Che Diaz\u2019s podcast.<\/p>\n Dear Evan Hansen star Isaac Powell will be playing George, a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology, while Ramy\u2019s Cathy Ang is Charlotte\u2019s daughter Lily Goldenblatt, Alexa Swinton plays her sister Rose, Curb Your Enthusiasm\u2019s Niall Cunningham plays Miranda\u2019s son Brady and Cree Cicchino plays Brady\u2019s girlfriend Luisa Torres.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Hamilton\u2019s Christopher Jackson will play Herbert Wexley, the husband of Nicole Ari Parker\u2019s character Lisa Todd Wexley and a successful hedge fun banker, while LeRoy McClain plays Andre Rashad Wallace, a successful musician and husband to Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman).<\/p>\n While Jason Lewis, who played Samantha\u2019s on-off actor boyfriend Jerry \u201cSmith\u201d Jerrod, confirmed recently during an interview\u00a0with\u00a0The Daily Front Row<\/a>\u00a0that he won\u2019t star in the revival, John Corbett (Carrie\u2019s old flame Aidan) is set to return for a least three episodes.<\/p>\n HBO Max in the UK<\/a> is not currently available, and nor have any plans been announced surrounding a launch on this side of the Atlantic.<\/p>\n That said, it does not mean UK viewers won\u2019t get to watch the series: HBO and Sky have a longstanding arrangement that sees many of the US channel\u2019s shows go straight to Sky Atlantic in the UK and there\u2019s every chance that could be the case in this instance \u2013 though nothing has been confirmed at this early stage,<\/p>\n Should any more information become available, we\u2019ll keep you updated about how you can watch the series in the UK.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, if you want to watch Sex and the City<\/a>\u2018s original run, we also have all the information you need.<\/p>\nSex and the City: And Just Like That release date<\/strong><\/h2>\n
