But there\u2019s also another question on everyone\u2019s lips: which royals will be in attendance at the Championships<\/a>?<\/span><\/p>\n A known lover and player of tennis, and the incumbent <\/span>patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), Kate Middleton <\/span>traditionally presents the trophies each year, as well as attending several matches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The royal told Sue Barker in a BBC documentary back in 2017: \u201cI have watched Wimbledon, that was very much part of my growing up. It\u2019s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters, myself, it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game. It hasn\u2019t changed either, I think that\u2019s what\u2019s so wonderful.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n But, with the Princess having taken a break from royal duties while she receives treatment for cancer, could she be absent from Wimbledon 2024<\/a>? Read on for everything we know so far.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While the Princess is not on the list for the Royal Box<\/a> for the first day, t<\/span>he England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club chair Debbie Jevans told <\/span>Telegraph Sport<\/span><\/a> on Thursday that she\u2019s hoping the Princess of Wales will be in attendance as she continues her cancer treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re hopeful that the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as the Club\u2019s patron, but her health and recovery is the priority,\u201d she told the publication. \u201cWe don\u2019t know what we don\u2019t know. All we\u2019ve said is that we\u2019ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The Princess of Wales recently delighted fans when she attended the annual Trooping the Colour parade on Sunday 15th June.<\/span><\/p>\n Ahead of her appearance, Kensington Palace shared a statement from Kate on its social media accounts, in which the royal said she <\/span>is \u201cmaking good progress\u201d but \u201cthere are good days and bad days\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n She added: \u201cMy treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.
