Eight years after originally airing, The Night Manager<\/a> is returning for a second season<\/a> \u2013 and so far, it\u2019s shaping up to be quite the cast.<\/p>\n

As well as Tom Hiddleston reprising his leading role as Jonathan Pine, it\u2019s now been confirmed that Olivia Colman<\/a> will also be returning as Angela Burr.<\/p>\n

Angela, who is a gender-swapped version of John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s original book<\/a> character Leonard Burr, is an intelligence agent who was on a mission to bring down Richard Roper, played by Hugh Laurie.<\/p>\n

Further casting<\/a> announcements have also been made and there\u2019s a flurry of returning faces including Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone and Noah Jupe. But that\u2019s not all as Diego Calva<\/a> (Narcos: Mexico) and Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six<\/a>) have also been announced as fresh cast members for the new season.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s safe to say that fans of the spy thriller series are anticipating this new instalment, which will continue to be inspired by John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s 1993 novel. The second season will once again be written by show creator David Farr and will be helmed by BAFTA award-winning director Georgi Banks-Davies, known for their work on I Hate Suzie and Paper Girls.<\/p>\n

Will there be a second season of The Night Manager?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Yes!<\/strong> It\u2019s been confirmed that season 2 of The Night Manager is officially happening. And not just that, but it\u2019s also returning for season 3 too.<\/p>\n

Upon the news of The Night Manager season 2, Charlotte Moore, the BBC\u2019s Chief Content Officer, said: \u201cAfter years of fervent speculation I\u2019m incredibly excited to confirm that The Night Manager is returning to the BBC for two more series.\u201d<\/p>\n

Le Carr\u00e9\u2019s sons<\/a> who run production company The Ink Factory, Simon and Stephen Cornwell, also said: \u201cRevisiting the story of Pine also means going beyond the events of John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s original work: that is a decision we have not taken lightly, but his compelling characters and the vision David has for their next chapter were irresistible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking previously in an interview<\/a> with RadioTimes.com<\/a> about her Netflix<\/a> film Bird Box, season 1 director Susanne Bier later explained that she was not attached to the second season, saying: \u201cI\u2019m not doing Night Manager 2. I wasn\u2019t sure that I would do my very best work the second time round \u2013 so I decided that I should probably not do it and have somebody [else direct it].<\/p>\n

\u201cI just got worried that I would repeat myself or do something which wasn\u2019t as great, but I think somebody else is going to do an amazing job out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When would The Night Manager season 2 be released?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As of now, there\u2019s no confirmed release date for The Night Manager season 2<\/strong> but we do know that filming for the new series is currently underway.<\/p>\n

We would expect a release date of 2025<\/strong> but as for exactly when, we\u2019ll just have to wait and see. We do know that when it is released, The Night Manager season 2 will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.<\/p>\n

Outside of the UK, it will launch globally on Prime Video in a deal negotiated by FIFTH SEASON which is handling global distribution of the series.<\/p>

Tom Hiddleston (Loki) will return as Jonathan Pine, who will be seen facing up to a new deadly challenge in the new season.<\/p>\n

In terms of returning faces, Olivia Colman will also be back as Angela Burr as well as Alistair Petrie as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone as Frisky, and Noah Jupe as Daniel Roper.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll also be the dawn of some new and exciting characters, too, as a slew of characters have also been announced including Diego Calva (Narcos: Mexico), Camila Morrone<\/a> (Daisy Jones & The Six), Indira Varma (Doctor Who<\/a>), Paul Chahidi (Wicked Little Letters<\/a>), and Hayley Squires (Adult Material).<\/p>\n

As of now, it has not been revealed whether or not Hugh Laurie will be back as Roper, but we do know that Laurie has been confirmed as an executive producer on the new seasons.<\/p>\n

Tom Hollander is also unlikely to return, after his character Corky met his end at the hands of Pine in season 1. It\u2019s also been reported (via Deadline<\/a>) that Elizabeth Debicki \u201cis unlikely to return\u201d as Jed, after The Sun claimed Camila Morrone\u2019s role is \u201creplacing\u201d her character.<\/p>\n

Debicki played the role of Jemima \u2018Jed\u2019 Marshall, the girlfriend and mistress of Hugh Laurie\u2019s arms dealer Richard Roper.<\/p>\n
