The identity of Anita Dobson’s character is still very much a mystery… <\/p>

Although the recent Doctor Who<\/a>\u00a0season finale Empire of Death<\/a> provided direct answers to many of the run\u2019s most burning questions \u2013 including the identity of Ruby\u2019s mother \u2013 other mysteries were very much left unsolved.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most notable is the identity of Anita Dobson\u2019s character Mrs Flood, who made another enigmatic address to camera at the episode\u2019s close, telling viewers: \u201cAnd what happens, you might wonder, to that mysterious traveller in time and space known as the Doctor? I\u2019m sorry to say his story ends in absolute terror.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ever since, there has understandably been a lot of speculation as to both what Mrs Flood means by this and who exactly she is, with Dobson herself revealing that we should \u201cfind out quite a lot about her\u201d in the next season.<\/p>\n

She went on to say: \u201cI\u2019ve been in the dark for so long that I quite like it now! I never know what\u2019s going to happen and that\u2019s part of the fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, showrunner Russell T Davies has teased that fans can expect the \u201cride of a lifetime\u201d when it comes to solving the mystery \u2013 and even hinted that we could find out more as early as Christmas special Joy to the World, which has been penned by Steven Moffat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Appearing in a video message on\u00a0The Official Doctor Who Podcast<\/a>, he said: \u201cChristmas is mad and brilliant and exciting! I can tell you that the story as we go into 2025 of Ruby\u2019s family is not quite at an end. There\u2019s more revelations to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut why was Mrs Flood standing on a rooftop making those pronouncements? All I can say is, you are literally in for the ride of a lifetime. Please come back!\u201d<\/p>\n

That should be enough to further excite fans about what lies in store, and follows earlier comments from the showrunner that there would be some \u201castonishing reveals<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI can promise you reveals,\u201d he said on Doctor Who: Unleashed. \u201cI can promise you astonishing reveals and a lot of fun with her as well, she\u2019s so much fun to work with. So good times with Mrs Flood to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs Flood was first introduced as a seemingly innocent neighbour of Ruby but it soon became clear there was more to her than meets the eye when she ended the Christmas special, The Church on Ruby Road, with her shock line: \u201cNever seen a TARDIS before?\u201d<\/p>\n
