“I’ve got a three-season story in my head.” <\/p>
New superhero drama Supacell<\/a> has proven to be one of Netflix\u2019s big hits of the summer since its launch last week \u2013 and there\u2019s some potentially good news for fans already desperate for more following the six-episode season.<\/p>\n That\u2019s because writer and creator Rapman has revealed that his ambition is for the show to return for at least two further seasons, exclusively telling RadioTimes.com<\/a> that he\u2019s made his long-term plans clear to Netflix before the debut of the first run.<\/p>\n \u201cI told them that I want three seasons,\u201d he said. \u201cI suppose we have to see how season 1 performs. But I know I\u2019ve very much made clear that I want to do three seasons minimum.\u201d<\/p>\n He added that he already has a pretty clear idea of where the show might go in the future in the event that it does get renewed.<\/p> \u201cI\u2019ve got a three-season story in my head,\u201d he said. \u201c[I\u2019m] not saying it can\u2019t go over. But right now I know where it goes to. I know where\u2026 what the story is from up to season 3.\u201d<\/p>\n That will certainly come as exciting news for fans who have already devoured the opening season \u2013 and the huge success of the series so far makes a renewal seem like a very real possibility.<\/p>\n The show quickly became the streamer\u2019s number one show in the UK following its launch last Thursday, while it also currently second on the global chart, just behind Bridgerton<\/a>.<\/p>\n Supacell stars former Doctor Who<\/a> star Tosin Cole and The Responder<\/a>\u2018s Adelayo Adedayo and follows a group of seemingly ordinary Black Londoners who suddenly develop superpowers and must deal with the sudden impact on their daily lives.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Rapman also told RadioTimes.com<\/strong> that he hopes the series might create a pathway<\/a> for more sci-fi shows about Black British characters in the future.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you actually look back at UK shows, when have you ever seen a UK sci-fi \u2013 not that there\u2019s a lot of them anyway \u2013 but with a Black cast?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd even take out the UK, even going to the States, you could probably think of Black Panther. Or you could probably think of Black Lightning. The buck stops there, let\u2019s be honest. And it\u2019s like\u2026 why can\u2019t Black people be in a sci-fi space?\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cSo the hope is that this show does really well and it\u2019s just the beginning.
