Prince William is set to feature in a new two-part documentary for ITV1 and ITVX\u00a0 that aims to change perceptions around homelessness.<\/p>\n
The programme \u2013 which has been given the working title Prince William: We Can End Homelessness \u2013 will shine a spotlight on the The Royal Foundation\u2019s Homewards programme, a five-year programme which aims to demonstrate that homelessness can be ended.<\/p>\n
According to a release, it will give \u201can exclusive, behind the scenes look\u201d at the first year of the programme and will follow Prince William \u201cas he launches Homewards across the country, as well as the journeys of those currently facing homelessness or who have lived experience of the issue\u201d.<\/p>\n
It will also feature well-known advocates of the programme, alongside those leading individual projects across the UK.<\/p>
Speaking about the commission, ITV\u2019s controller of factual Jo Clinton-Davis said: \u201cWith access to the inner workings of this ambitious project and the work of Prince William and his team, we hope to share with viewers a privileged insight into how they are setting out to tackle an issue which concerns us all and affects so many of our fellow citizens across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile director Leo Burley \u2013 who previously won a BAFTA for his 2022 documentary The Real Mo Farah \u2013 said that the show would feature \u201csome incredibly moving stories from people across the country facing homelessness\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cFrom street homelessness in Newport, to families living in temporary accommodation in Sheffield, and youth homelessness in Aberdeen, the documentary paints a picture of homelessness across the UK today, working with many people who never expected to experience life without a place to call home.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone we\u2019ve filmed with has welcomed the spotlight that Prince William and Homewards are placing on the UK\u2019s homelessness crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n
Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n And the Royal Foundation\u2019s CEO Amanda Berry OBE spoke about the power of television \u201cto change hearts and minds\u201d.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cHomelessness can seem like it is hard to prevent but by sharing the realities of people\u2019s experiences and those who are coming together to support them, we can inspire action.
