Paul Hollywood and Matt Lucas have led tributes to Bake Off contestant Dawn Hollyoak<\/a>, who has died at the age of 61.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hollyoak, who competed in the Channel 4 show in 2022<\/a> and was the sixth baker to be eliminated, passed away on Friday night (5th July), with her family confirming the news in a statement on Instagram.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It read: \u201c<\/span>It\u2019s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our Star Baker Dawn. <\/span>Not only a wonderfully talented baker but first and foremost an amazing mother, grandmother, wife and friend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDawn passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. We will miss her forever, but promise to continue her baking legacy!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bake Off<\/a> judge Paul Hollywood paid tribute to her in the comments section, writing: \u201cI\u2019m so sorry to hear that, send my love to the family. A lovely lady x.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas also shared his condolences<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m so sorry to learn of the passing of lovely Dawn Hollyoak, who delighted us all in the Bake Off tent. My thoughts are with her family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fellow contestant Maxy Maligisa wrote: \u201cDawn will be missed so much. Our memories together are memories that I will cherish forever xx.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Janusz Domaga\u0142a, who also appeared in the 2022 series, said: \u201cAll my love is with you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

2022 Bake Off runner-up Sandro Farmhouse added: \u201cWe love you Dawn.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Asked whether she thought she\u2019d ever make it onto the Channel 4 show, Hollyoak said: \u201cI dreamt about it but did I really? No, not in a million years! I just remember saying, \u2018Oh my word!\u2019 Or possibly something less polite! I had goosebumps and was shaking like a leaf!\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about her first week in the tent, she added: \u201cThe absolute joy that emanates from every single person involved in the show is delightful. It was lovely meeting lots of people who had been speaking to me regularly in the run-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen getting to know my fellow bakers, everyone was so unique, our shared passion for baking was terrific and we just laughed constantly even though we were petrified! And the grounds are so incredibly beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hollyoak worked as an IT Manager in Bedfordshire before appearing on the show.<\/span><\/p>\n

When she was eliminated in Halloween week, she wrote a letter to her fans, which read: \u201c<\/span>Well, it\u2019s finally time to say goodbye to the tent after the adventure of a lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c10 applications then finally I got the call I\u2019d dreamt about. I arrived at the tent feeling a bit scared (terrified).<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone knew who I was, really strange, I\u2019m just Dawn, Mrs Ordinary Mum\/Granny!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cWhat a great time (that no one ever sees) so welcoming and wonderful. They even check how you take your coffee before you arrive.\u201d<\/span><\/p> <\/body><\/html>\n
