Dame Judi Dench is tracing her family tree, as well as <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/talent-shows\/strictly-come-dancing-2021-start-date-news\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> alumni Joe Sugg and Alex Scott, who each star in their own individual episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Read on for everything you need to know about Who Do You Think You Are\u2019s 2021 series and which celebrities will be taking part this year.<\/p>\n<h2>Who Do You Think You Are 2021 series release date<\/h2>\n<p>Series 18 of Who Do You Think You Are? begins on\u00a0<strong>Tuesday 12th October\u00a0<\/strong>at\u00a0<strong>9pm<\/strong> on\u00a0<strong>BBC One.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The seven-part series will continue to air every Tuesday from next week onwards.<\/p> <h2>Who Do You Think You Are 2021 celebrities<\/h2>\n<div class=\"&quot;image-handler__container\" style=\"padding-bottom:\"> <img class=\"&quot;wp-image-1384055\" align=\"\" data-src=\"&quot;https:\/\/images.immediate.co.uk\/production\/volatile\/sites\/3\/2021\/10\/23110542-high_res-who-do-you-think-you-are-s18-46ca140.jpg?quality=90&amp;resize=620%2C413&quot;\" width=\"&quot;620&quot;\" height=\"&quot;413&quot;\" alt=\"&quot;Pixie\" title=\"&quot;who-do-you-think-you-are-2021-release-date&quot;\" \/><\/div><div class=\"&quot;caption-hold&quot;\"><figcaption class=\"&quot;wp-caption-text&quot;\"><span class=\"&quot;caption-copy&quot;\"><i class=\"&quot;icon-arrow\" \/> Pixie Lott, Joe Lycett, and Alex Scott<\/span><\/figcaption><span class=\"&quot;im-image-caption&quot;\"> <i>BBC<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<p>The upcoming series of Who Do You Think You Are? will see a host of stellar celebrities learn about their ancestral history, beginning with comedian Josh Widdicombe in episode one finding out that <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/josh-widdicombe-who-do-you-think-you-are-royalty-newsupdate\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">he descends from royalty<\/a>, and Dame Judi Dench in episode two.<\/p>\n<p>Series 18 will also feature politician Ed Balls, who learns about an ancestor who lived through agricultural depression in the 1820s, and singer Pixie Lott, who discovers the harrowing experiences of her great grandfather in the First World War.<\/p>\n<p>Comedian Joe Lycett is the subject of one episode as he discovers a dark side to his family history, while presenter Alex Scott also appears in this series to explore the Jewish ancestry on her mother\u2019s side and her father\u2019s Jamaican ancestry.<\/p>\n<p>Former <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/entertainment\/talent-shows\/strictly-come-dancing-2020-air-date-news\/&quot;\">Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> contestant Joe Sugg brings his sister Zoe \u2013 YouTube\u2019s Zoella \u2013 along for an episode as they explore their family tree.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Who Do You Think You Are about?<\/h2>\n<p>Who Do You Think You Are? is the BBC\u2019s long-running docu-series, where celebrities enlist the help of genealogists to look into their ancestral history.<\/p>\n<p>Since first airing in 2004, the series has won two BAFTAs and inspired a number of international spin-offs.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the likes of Kate Winslet, Daniel Radcliffe, Anita Rani, Graham Norton and other UK stars have taken part in the show.<\/p>\n<h2>Who narrates Who Do You Think You Are?<\/h2>\n<p>Actor and director Phil Davis (Poldark, Silk, Sherlock) narrates Who Do You Think You Are? and has done so since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Previous narrators have included Cherie Lunghi, Mark Strong and David Morrissey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new series of Who Do You Think You Are? begins on Tuesday 12th October\u00a0at\u00a09pm on\u00a0BBC One.
