Jenna Coleman returns to screens this later this month in a new BBC detective series, The Jetty<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The four-part crime drama has been described \u201cas much of a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller\u201d and aims to ask \u201cbig questions about sexual morality, identity and memory in the places that Me Too has left behind\u201d.<\/p>\n

Across the series, Coleman\u2019s Detective Ember Manning draws a connection between a \u201cpodcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit relationship between a man in his 20s and two underage girls\u201d after a property is destroyed by a fire.<\/p>\n

While this is the backdrop of the series, writer and creator Cat Jones explained that The Jetty is \u201creally about the relationship between men and women in a post \u2018Me Too\u2019 world\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the press notes for the series, Jones added: \u201cIt\u2019s about looking at the relationship between a sexist remark in the pub against violence towards women and girls, and the fact that one can be an incubator for the other.<\/p>\n

With these key themes, The Jetty is a story the cast believe needs to be told.<\/p>\n
Archie Renaux, who stars as Hitch, noted that he believes it\u2019s \u201cimportant to tell this story now\u201d because even though progress is being made, \u201cthere are still grey areas\u201d.<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cFor example, just because something is legal doesn\u2019t necessarily make it right. I think the show sheds light on topical issues and will spark necessary conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Weruche Opia echoed a similar sentiment, noting that the series will help audiences realise \u201cthat what was deemed acceptable back in the day wasn\u2019t necessarily right\u201d.<\/p>\n
