More than 27 years on since the debut of Pok\u00e9mon Blue and Red, fans around the world continue to revisit the original titles time and time again.<\/p>\n

And why shouldn\u2019t they? The \u2018catch \u2019em all\u2019 series has only continued to grow in size, so seeing how it all started is naturally going to incite intrigue.<\/p>\n

Of course, returning to the original Game Boy games \u2013 including Pok\u00e9mon Yellow \u2013 does mean the return of the pesky HM items.<\/p>\n

HM, or Hidden Machine, is a move taught to certain Pok\u00e9mon that gains you an advantage in the world. This can be travelling across the land by air or being able to brighten up a dark cave, for example.<\/p>\n

To refresh your memory or possibly even introduce you to HMs for the very first time, we\u2019ve outlined exactly what each one does in Pok\u00e9mon Blue and Red and Yellow, alongside where each one is located.<\/p>\n

How many HMs are in Pok\u00e9mon Blue, Red and Yellow?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There are five HMs in Pok\u00e9mon Blue, Red and Yellow.<\/p>\n

These are all spread throughout the Kanto region, and while not all are\u00a0needed to progress through the story, they make it a lot easier.<\/p>\n

Once taught to a Pok\u00e9mon, these moves cannot be forgotten \u2013 so assign them carefully.<\/p>\n

    HM 01 \u2013 Cut<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    HM 01 (Cut) is found onboard the SS Anne in Vermillion City. Once you have defeated your rival on the top floor, head through to find the captain, who is a little under the weather. Speak to him and choose the option to rub his back. As a reward, he will gift you HM 01.<\/p>\n

    HM 02 \u2013 Fly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    HM 02 (Fly) is located on Route 16. East of Celadon City, a tree blocks the route forward. Cut this down, progress through the building and you will find a secret house in the top-left-hand corner. Speak with the lady inside the building to get HM 02.<\/p>\n

    HM 03 \u2013 Surf<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    HM 03 (Surf) is found within the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City. It can be purchased from a man in a secret house for 500 Pok\u00e9mon dollars.<\/p>\n

    HM 04 \u2013 Strength<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    HM 04 is earned from the Warden in Fuchsia City in exchange for his Gold Teeth. These are located in the Safari Zone next to the building where you find HM 03 (Surf). Shaped like a Pok\u00e9 Ball, grab the item, return it to the Warden and HM 04 is all yours.<\/p>\n

    HM 05 \u2013 Flash\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    HM 05 (Flash) is found on Route 2 by Professor Oak\u2019s aide in the building south of Diglett\u2019s Tunnel. You will need to have defeated Brock and earned the Boulder Badge to obtain HM 05. It\u2019s the only one that isn\u2019t necessary to complete the game, but is still useful for dark caves.<\/p>\n

    Are the HM locations the same in Pok\u00e9mon FireRed and LeafGreen?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Yes<\/strong>, all HM locations in Pok\u00e9mon FireRed and LeafGreen are the same as in Pok\u00e9mon Blue, Red and Yellow.<\/p>\n

    The 2004 remake designed for the Game Boy Advance is a faithful recreation of the original 1996 titles \u2013 therefore, all five HMs are in the same spot.<\/p>\n

    Are the HM locations the same in Let\u2019s Go Pikachu and Eevee?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    HMs do not appear in Let\u2019s Go Pikachu and Eevee<\/strong>. Instead, they are replaced by Secret Techniques taught to your partner Pok\u00e9mon, whether that be Pikachu or Eevee.<\/p>\n

    On top of this, certain Pok\u00e9mon are ridable in the sky, like Charizard or Aerodactyl, as well as on the sea, like Gyarados and Lapras.<\/p>\n

    Pok\u00e9mon Blue and Red and Yellow are available to play on Game Boy.<\/p>\n
