A decade after ending its run with final season Live Another Day, it looks like a new movie based on the hugely popular Kiefer Sutherland series 24 could be on the way to cinemas.<\/p>\n

According to Variety<\/a>, a film adaptation is in \u201cearly development\u201d although few precise details have been reported at this stage \u2013 in terms of either plot or casting.<\/p>\n

But the new reports follow quotes from the film\u2019s purported producer Brian Grazer last month, who told CNBC<\/a> that the possibility was being explored.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great for us, because we\u2019ve built, over 30 years, over 100 different products and brands,\u201d he explained, before using the example of 24 and teasing \u201ca movie that we\u2019re going to do in a very interesting way with Disney and Fox\u201d.<\/p>

RadioTimes.com<\/a> have reached out to Grazer for comment on the new reports.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen what this \u201cvery interesting way\u201d refers to, but of course a film version would have to follow a very different format from the TV show.<\/p>\n

The feature that set the series apart was that each season would unfolded in real time across 24 episodes, with each episode corresponding to one hour on the clock.<\/p>\n

And while it\u2019s possible that the reported film version would take a similar real-time approach, they\u2019d obviously have far fewer hours to play with.<\/p>\n

But there is precedent for that approach: A TV film spin-off \u2013 subtitled Redemption \u2013 aired during the show\u2019s original run, which saw action unfold in real time across two hours.<\/p>\n
