Kieron Richardson has revealed he had cause to worry that his Hollyoaks<\/a> alter ego Ste Hay would be heading to prison after his role in the soap\u2019s shocking crash stunt.<\/p>\n

Back in January, Ste accidentally killed teen Ella Richardson (Erin Palmer)<\/a>, only discovering that he had mowed her down in his car after he had rushed daughter Leah Barnes (El\u00e1-May Demircan) to hospital for alcohol poisoning.<\/p>\n

After attempting to cover up his actions, Ste confessed all, leading Ella\u2019s dad Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) to punish him by ordering him into dodgy jobs.<\/p>\n

When the case went to court, Ste was stunned to be let off the hook \u2013 but, in an exclusive chat with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Richardson explained that he thought Ste was destined for a life behind bars!<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first thing I asked when we got told about it last year, that there was gonna be this big crash stunt episode and it was all gonna be Ste\u2019s fault, I was like, \u2018Am I going, then, am I going to prison?!’\u201d<\/p>\n

The star was quickly reassured otherwise \u2013 but he had no idea how much Ste\u2019s circumstances would spiral as a result of his actions.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I did know from the very beginning that I would get away with it, but I didn\u2019t realise the scenarios and situations that would happen to get him to this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the years, Ste has been at the centre of many storylines<\/a> as the guilty party, including domestic abuse and far right extremism. But somehow, we\u2019ve always seen him get away with it.<\/p>\n

The actor can\u2019t help but note his alter ego\u2019s luck: \u201cHe\u2019s like a cat with nine lives, he gets up to mischief and always gets away with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked how it felt to be attending RadioTimes.com<\/b><\/span>\u00a0Soap Awards 2024<\/strong>\u00a0sponsored by\u00a0Inspired Villages<\/a>, he added: \u201cIt\u2019s quite exciting because it\u2019s the inaugural one, so obviously there\u2019s not so many times that we get together because there\u2019s people down south, there\u2019s people in Leeds, we\u2019re in Liverpool, obviously we\u2019re in Manchester tonight.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s nice to see everybody come together. Radio Times is an iconic magazine in itself, so the fact that they\u2019re doing this and it\u2019s the first one, and we\u2019re here, and I\u2019m nominated is really exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
