The drama is based on a non-fiction book by author Beth Macy called Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America.<\/i><\/p>\n The official synopsis explains that the series, \u201cexamines how one company triggered the worst drug epidemic in American history.
