{"id":5646,"date":"2021-10-12T13:23:58","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T11:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1388890"},"modified":"2021-10-12T13:46:07","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T11:46:07","slug":"eastenders-coronation-street-casualty-and-more-to-cross-over-for-special-event-to-highlight-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/eastenders-coronation-street-casualty-and-more-to-cross-over-for-special-event-to-highlight-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"EastEnders, Coronation Street, Casualty and more to cross over for special event to highlight climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"><\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Patrick Cremona\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Tuesday, 12 October 2021 at 12:00 am<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>In a British TV first, the nation\u2019s soaps and continuing dramas have announced that they will join forces in an attempt to highlight the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming episodes of Casualty, Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Holby City and Hollyoaks will each contain scenes that reference different aspects of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>And in an even more ground-breaking move, each show will contain nods to one another, with some of the most iconic characters set to appear in their rival shows to discuss the issues that have been debated.<\/p>\n<p>For example, a Hollyoaks character is set to appear in Walford, while a social media clip starring two of Emmerdale\u2019s residents will be shown to Coronation Street characters and one of BBC One\u2019s Doctors cast will appear on Coronation Street.<\/p> <p>These episodes will all air in the week beginning Monday 1st November \u2013 to coincide with the COP26 conference in Glasgow, which will see World Leaders meet to discuss climate change action.<\/p>\n<p>The idea was originally conceived by Emmerdale\u2019s Executive Producer, Jane Hudson who has since been coordinating with her fellow executives to bring the plan together.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of Emmerdale and ITV Studios, Hudson said, \u201cNever before have all five soaps and both continuing dramas come together and united in telling one story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we certainly haven\u2019t seen characters pop up in other shows before.
