The Gotham Knights release date stills feels a long way off, partially thanks to a delay that pushed the game into 2022. However, the Batman spinoff game from Warner Bros Montreal is still a fairly exciting proposition.<\/p>\n

After all, Gotham Knights will put us in the capes and cowls of the extended Bat-family like never before. Picking up the story at a point where Batman and Bruce Wayne are dead, the player will control Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl and the Red Hood as they attempt to keep Gotham City in check.<\/p>\n

With the DC FanDome event expected to feature some Gotham Knights news this weekend, here\u2019s everything we know about the game in the meantime \u2013 starting with that release date delay.<\/p>\n
Gotham Knights release date<\/strong><\/h2>\nThe Gotham Knights release date will take place in 2022<\/strong>. The game was originally intended for a 2021 release, but a delay was announced via Twitter<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n
\u201cGotham Knights will now launch worldwide in 2022,\u201d the image attached to the Tweet declared. An exact date in 2022 is not mentioned, so it could be any time during the year.<\/p>\n
As for the reasons behind the delay, the Tweet adds: \u201cWe are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players.\u201d<\/p>\n
Is Gotham Knights a sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
Although WB Montreal did work on Batman: Arkham Origins and several other tie-ins to Rocksteady\u2019s Arkham franchise, it has been confirmed that Gotham Knights is not\u00a0a sequel to Arkham Knight<\/strong>. And Batman will not appear in Gotham Knights as a playable character, as far as we know.<\/p>\n
The story of Gotham Knights exists in its own universe, entirely separate from the Arkham series of games. Despite the fact that there are similarities between the ending of Arkham Knight and the beginning of Gotham Knights (both games hinge on the idea of Batman being taken out of action), Gotham Knights is very much its own thing.<\/p>\n
Rocksteady, the main developer of the Arkham games, is working on another new game called Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League<\/a> \u2013 that game, unlike Gotham Knights, is considered part of the Arkham canon. Not confusing at all, is it?<\/p>
What platforms and consoles can play Gotham Knights?<\/strong><\/h2>\nGotham Knights will be available on PS5<\/a>, Xbox Series X<\/a>, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. There\u2019s no hint of a Nintendo Switch release for Gotham Knights, though, so it might be wise not to hold out hope on that front.<\/p>\n
Although the game has not been confirmed for a release on Google Stadia, resourceful fans seem to have uncovered a clue in the Gotham Knight\u2019s website source code<\/a>, which seems to suggest that there could at some point be a Stadia launch for the game. Batman himself would be proud of that detective work!<\/p>\n
