After days of technical issues<\/a>, which interrupted some of our favourite shows, the broadcaster accidentally aired the wrong episode of\u00a0Married at First Sight.<\/a><\/p>\n Now, there are problems with the subtitling and audio description provision offered by the channel. Today, they have provided an update<\/a> on the situation, detailing when shows like The Great British Bake Off<\/a>, Gogglebox<\/a> and Joel Dommett\u2019s upcoming dating series The Love Trap<\/a> will be\u00a0able to offer these services again.<\/p> Acknowledging that the lack of subtitles is \u201cincredibly disappointing\u201d, Channel 4 explains in a statement that the problems have been caused by the triggering of a \u201cfire suppression system at Red Bee Media\u2019s broadcast centre, which transmits all Channel 4\u2019s services.\u201d<\/p>\n Channel 4 switched to its emergency back-up system, but still faces \u201csignificant problems\u201d. The broadcaster said: \u201cOne of these is not being able to provide access services \u2013 subtitles, audio description or sign language support \u2013 for programmes broadcast since the incident. We know that this is incredibly frustrating for you and your families who rely on these services to watch your favourite programmes\u2026 The system that should have provided subtitles failed. Since then, our engineers have been working around the clock to find out what went wrong and how we can fix it.\u201d<\/p>\n Channel 4 currently unable to provide audio description or sign language until a new system has been built, which could take some time, but the outlook is more optimistic for subtitles.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a complex job, however, we are beginning to make progress. For example, some of you might have noticed we have been testing subtitles on More4 and Channel 4 during the day.<\/p>\n \u201cOn Friday 15th October, we successfully had live subtitles during Stand Up To Cancer. This week, we will begin to add subtitles for some of the programmes you have missed \u2013 Gogglebox, the Great British Bake Off and its Extra Slice \u2013 on All 4. However, this is a very labour-intensive process, so it isn\u2019t possible to make every programme available simultaneously.<\/p>\n \u201cWe know this isn\u2019t good enough, but it\u2019s a start.\u201d<\/p>\n The statement goes on to say that full services may not resume until mid-November, adding: \u201cClearly, if we can do anything to speed up this process, we will.
