Nicola Coughlan has discussed casting Bridgerton<\/a> co-stars Ben Miller and Jamie Beamish in her all-star comedy audio series, Whistle Through The Shamrocks, co-created with playwright Camilla Whitehill.<\/p>\n

In Bridgerton, which will return for a second season, Coughlan plays Penelope Featherington, while Miller played her on-screen father, Lord Featherington, who died in season one.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Coughlan revealed that Miller \u2013\u00a0her \u201cfake daddy\u201d \u2013\u00a0would play the loathsome English aristocrat Cromwell Dumblington in her new scripted audio series, set in Ireland.<\/p>\n

Asked if she was looking forward to reuniting with Miller after his Bridgerton character\u2019s death, she said: \u201cYeah, definitely. it\u2019s a funny thing right? We sort of wrote this insanely terrible English man\u00a0that we were like, \u2018Who is going to do this?\u2019 Then Ben was so up for it and was so funny. And also, for someone that has such legendary comic history behind them, for someone like that to [say], \u2018Oh this is actually hilarious,\u2019 was really, really nice.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe script \u2013\u00a0it\u2019s so ridiculous, and it gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on, but he just fully committed to it and was so, so funny, but yeah, it\u2019s very exciting. \u2018Fake Daddy\u2019 is what I call Ben Miller,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n

Whitehill added: \u201cIt was one of my best days when we were watching him [Miller] record his part, because he\u2019s so incredibly talented and funny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamie Beamish, who played repulsive suitor Nigel Berbrooke in the Bridgerton cast<\/a>, also stars in Whistle Through The Shamrock\u2019s voice cast as \u201cDaddy\u201d, head of the central O\u2019Flanneryn family.<\/p>

\u201cI\u2019m gonna try to write it into every possible \u2013 every job I ever do, that I just want to work with Jamie, because he\u2019s in Derry Girls<\/a> too, and in Bridgerton. So honestly, we just love him so much,\u201d said Coughlan.<\/p>\n

She jokingly added that \u201cblackmail was a huge part\u201d of securing the podcast\u2019s starry voice cast, which also includes the\u00a0likes of Queer Eye\u2019s Jonathan Van Ness, Brooklyn 99\u2019s Stephanie Beatriz, Susan Wokoma, and Ed Gamble.<\/p>\n

In the six-part audio series, Coughlan plays Tiny Nelly O\u2019Flanneryn, while her co-creator Whitehill reads the stage directions and adds commentary.<\/p>\n
