Sky Original Drama Temple returns this week \u2013 and star Daniel Mays has teased that the new run will be even more exciting than the previous one<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis time around the blinkers are off,\u201d Mays revealed in an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>. \u201cMy biggest compliment is that you\u2019re completely on the edge of your seat in terms of what\u2019s going to happen next.<\/p>\n The show once again revolves around Mark Strong\u2019s character Daniel Milton \u2013 a surgeon who tries to save his wife\u2019s life by setting up an illegal clinic below Temple tube station \u2013 and it appears that Daniel is going to be drawn even further into the criminal underworld this time.<\/p>\n Filming on the second run began in August 2020 \u2013 after delays brought about by the coronavirus pandemic \u2013 with some new additions to the cast including Rhys Ifans and Michael Smiley.<\/p>\n Read on for everything you need to know about Temple season two, including cast details and when it will be released.<\/p>\n The second season of Temple debuts on\u00a0Thursday 28th October 2021<\/strong>, with the entire series becoming available as a box set on Sky Max and NOW.<\/p>\n Production took place in late 2020, with the original start-date of April 2020 having been delayed as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n Most of the main stars from the first series are returning to reprise their roles, so that means viewers will be seeing more of Mark Strong,\u00a0Carice van Houten,\u00a0Daniel Mays,\u00a0Catherine McCormack,\u00a0Lily Newmark,\u00a0Ryan McKen\u00a0and\u00a0Tobi King Bakar.<\/p>\n And there\u2019s also an impressive list of series newcomers, with The Amazing Spider-Man star Rhys Ifans joining as a \u201cdubious and deeply unpredictable medical fixer\u201d called Gubby and Kill List star Michael Smiley playing his \u201cpoetic but frequently inebriated assistant\u201d Dermot.<\/p>\n Other new faces include Ruthxjiah Bellenea (The Last Tree), Mandeep Dhillon (After Life), Jamie Michie (Game of Thrones), Will Keen (His Dark Materials) and BAFTA winner Gbemisola Ikumelo (Brain in Gear).<\/p>\n Speaking about the new cast members, Strong said, \u201cWe are delighted to welcome all the new members of the cast to Temple season two as we take the show on an exciting ride into uncharted territory.<\/p>\n \u201cWith Rhys Ifans who comes on board as Daniel\u2019s sometimes co-conspirator and nemesis, Michael Smiley who plays his unlikely collaborator and Ruthxjiah Bellenea who inspires Lee to take action, we look forward to taking the show to the next level.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of the newcomers are not only extremely talented but have roles that will take our story to unexpected places and continue the success of season one.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Sky, the second series will see Daniel pushed to even greater extremes as he risks everything to stay ahead of his lies.<\/p>\n The synopsis continues, \u201cbut with Beth having woken from her coma and very much aware of her husband\u2019s suspicious behaviour, Eve reeling to discover her mother has been alive all this time, Lee falling in with a charismatic activist and Anna luring patients down to the clinic for illegal drug trials, life is only going to get more insane.\u201d<\/p>\n Check out the first-look trailer for season two below, which sees Daniel coming to the aid of the bloody and injured Lee Simmons, who claims to have killed someone.<\/p>\nWhen is Temple season 2 released?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
