{"id":6411,"date":"2021-10-28T16:54:00","date_gmt":"2021-10-28T14:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1482577"},"modified":"2021-10-28T17:20:08","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T15:20:08","slug":"aimee-lou-wood-says-channel-4s-on-the-edge-will-bring-viewers-out-of-their-echo-chamber","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/aimee-lou-wood-says-channel-4s-on-the-edge-will-bring-viewers-out-of-their-echo-chamber\/","title":{"rendered":"Aimee Lou Wood says Channel 4\u2019s On the Edge will bring viewers out of their \u201cecho chamber\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"><\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Lauren Morris\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Thursday, 28 October 2021 at 12:00 am<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Aimee Lou Wood has said her episode of Channel 4\u2019s On the Edge tells \u201ca really important story\u201d that will remind those in the same \u201cecho chamber\u201d as her that there are still views out there that \u201cneed to be challenged\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The BAFTA winner stars in Mincemeat \u2013 the first episode of anthology series On the Edge \u2013 as Jane, a young woman trying to cope with her mother (Rosie Cavaliero), who\u2019s a controlling hoarder with hateful views, whilst falling for her former classmate Nish (Nikhil Parmar).<\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively to\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">RadioTimes.com<\/a> for next week\u2019s <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tag\/the-big-rt-interview\/&quot;\">Big RT Interview<\/a>, the <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/comedy\/sex-education-season-4-release-date\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">Sex Education<\/a> star said that it was Jane\u2019s journey throughout the episode that drew her to the series, which explores the impact of mental health in families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an actor, you want any opportunity to play a character that is so nuanced and it\u2019s always a gift when you read something and it\u2019s a brilliant arc and Jane has such an arc and she has such growth, the full spectrum of being a human she goes through in that 25 minutes,\u201d she said.<\/p> <p>\u201cI love the fact that it is a love story but you\u2019ve got this character [in Jane\u2019s mother] who I guess is a personification of an ideology that is hateful. She\u2019s an embodiment of all these horrible systemic issues and within this story, she is the personification of all that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s just a really important story and I think that it\u2019s important to be reminded in the kind of echo chamber that I\u2019m in that people actually have those views still, that people actually still need to be challenged and systems need to be dismantled that are literally poison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd actually I think I find that because of my friends and the world that I\u2019m in, I forget that but no, it\u2019s still rife,\u201d she added. \u201cI think that\u2019s an important story to tell and actually Jane is the younger generation but she has her own [prejudices], she doesn\u2019t realise that she\u2019s actually inherited so much of this from her mum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read more from Aimee Lou Wood in her Big RT Interview next week.
