BBC Breakfast\u2019s Dan Walker<\/a> has explained why he performed a lobster-themed dance during Strictly Come Dancing<\/a>\u2018s Halloween week after the show made an exception for him.<\/p>\n

While Saturday\u2019s episode saw most of this year\u2019s couples put a spooky spin on their dances for Halloween, Dan\u2019s Jive with professional Nadiya Bychkova to The B-52\u2019s Rock Lobster didn\u2019t quite fit with the rest of the spine-tingling theme.<\/p>\n

On BBC Breakfast this morning, the broadcaster revealed this was because he doesn\u2019t celebrate the day, and thanked Strictly for allowing him to avoid anything Halloween-related.<\/p>\n

\u201cLots of people did ask me actually about what have lobsters got to do with Halloween,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\u201cI should tell you, so we don\u2019t celebrate Halloween in our house and I\u2019ve got to say a huge thank you to Strictly because they enabled me to be a part of that programme without sort of doing Halloween.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd our kids, they would normally go to a light party on Halloween weekend or whenever that might be and I couldn\u2019t go on that programme and be a disingenuous dad.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAnybody who\u2019s got children and they talk to their children about what they can do and what they can\u2019t do and why they do things a certain way\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I can\u2019t say, \u2018Do as I say but not as I do\u2019, so that\u2019s where the lobsters came from.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dan and Nadiya\u2019s jive earned them a score of 27 from the judges, landing them towards the bottom of the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard<\/a> after many of the contestants scored eights, nines and 10s.<\/p>\n

Rose Ayling-Ellis and her pro partner Giovanni Pernice broke a Strictly record on Saturday by scoring the earliest 40 in the show\u2019s history<\/a> with their ice queen-themed tango.<\/p>\n
