After series 12\u2019s finale essentially canonised the <a href=\"\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/sci-fi\/doctor-who-morbius-doctors-explained\/&quot;\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"&quot;noopener&quot; noopener noreferrer\">Morbius Doctors<\/a><em> and<\/em> added Jo Martin\u2019s Time Lord to the roster of regenerations, we\u2019d say any and all bets are off for deep-cut fan ideas about the series as it continues.<\/p>\n<p>Which is why we\u2019re not dismissing out of hand the latest theory about Doctor Who: Flux, and specifically the idea that the series might be drawing from a story that never actually made it to TV \u2013 Lungbarrow, written by Marc Platt for Sylvester McCoy\u2019s Doctor but left on the shelf until Platt adapted it into a book some years later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was too internal a script to really work as a drama,\u201d Doctor Who script editor Andrew Cartmel said in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a brilliant, kind of gothic notion, but I think it was ideally suited to the novel that he [Platt] turned it into, into a sort of [Gormenghast author] Mervyn Peake prose thing.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"&quot;twitter-tweet&quot;\" data-dnt=\"&quot;true&quot;\"><p lang=\"&quot;en&quot;\" dir=\"&quot;ltr&quot;\">Screen of that messed up house from &#8220;War of the Sontarans&#8221; vs a painting by Daryl Joyce from the ancient BBC eBooks version of Marc Platt&#8217;s &#8220;Lungbarrow&#8221;.<br\/>I mean\u2026 it probably isn&#8217;t.<br\/><br\/>\u2026<br\/><br\/>Is it\u2026? <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/t.co\/e5eIZ5Atjn&quot;\">pic.twitter.com\/e5eIZ5Atjn<\/a><\/p>\u2014 No! Who\u2019s to say he couldn\u2019t do the same with Lungbarrow, by incorporating some of its themes and ideas (the Doctor\u2019s long-lost home and family) into Flux?<\/p>\n<p>Look, we\u2019re just saying it\u2019s possible. We\u2019ll have to wait and see whether this house really is Lungbarrow or whether there\u2019s something new going on. In the meantime, time to swot up on the Cartmel master plan.
