<\/p>
AJ Odudu earned a near-perfect score from the Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> judges one week after ending up bottom of the Strictly leaderboard<\/a>.<\/p>\n Last week, AJ struggled while performing her Paso after slipping on her dress<\/a>, later saying that the mishap had left her \u201cgutted\u201d.<\/p>\n But when it came to opening the show for the first time for Musicals Week, AJ and her partner Kai Widdrington soared, performing a stylish waltz to the song Edelweiss from The Sound of Music.<\/p>\n The judges awarded the duo a near-perfect score of 38, the highest waltz score of the series, with head judge Shirley Ballas \u2013 who gave 10 points \u2013 describing the routine as \u201cabsolutely sensational\u201d. \u201cI can tell that you\u2019ve worked very, very hard on your technique,\u201d she told AJ, adding, \u201cI feel like I want to put you in a Christmas snow globe, you are so beautiful \u2013 it was stunning.\u201d<\/p>\n Anton du Beke \u2013 who awarded 10 points \u2013 added that AJ was \u201cback with a bang\u201d, while Motsi Mabuse \u2013 who gave 9 points \u2013 also called the waltz \u201cbeautiful\u201d and guest judge Cynthia Erivo<\/a> said she was \u201creally proud\u201d of AJ, adding: \u201cHow do you solve a problem like Maria? You cast AJ, that\u2019s how!\u201d<\/p> Afterwards, a tearful AJ dedicated the dance to all the Strictly viewers who had voted for her and Kai last week despite their mishap. \u201cLast week we were so vulnerable,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t take a single vote or message of support for granted.<\/p>\n \u201cIt just makes you realise how much I\u2019m enjoying this whole experience \u2013 I don\u2019t want it to end.\u201d<\/p>\n Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One.
