The BBC has already released a first-look image of Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Breeders<\/a>) in brand new police drama The Responder, but now we have a trailer.<\/p>\n In the series, Freeman portrays Chris, an urgent response police officer.<\/p>\n The six-part BBC One series also features the likes of Adelayo Adedayo (The Capture), Ian Hart (The Terror), and MyAnna Buring (The Salisbury Poisonings), whose casting was announced in March 2021.<\/p>\n The upcoming series is penned by ex-police officer Tony Schumacher and is based on his real experiences on the job.<\/p>\n Freeman plays an officer on the beat in Liverpool who is tasked with six night shifts in a row- each of which he completes over the course of one of six episodes.<\/p>\n Chris is just trying to make it to the end of each shift, but his daily grind is interrupted when he\u2019s forced to take on\u00a0new rookie partner Rachel (Adedayo).<\/p>\n Schumacher said in a statement: \u201cI\u2019m so incredibly fortunate to be writing for a cast as amazing as the one we\u2019ve assembled for The Responder.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom legends at the top of their game, to young talents who are legends in waiting, it\u2019s a writer\u2019s dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n Here\u2019s everything you need to know about The Responder.<\/p>\n The Responder is coming soon to BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n Filming began on the project in March 2021 \u2013 which indicates a likely broadcast date of late 2021 or early 2022.<\/p>\n The series was first announced back in February 2020<\/a> alongside a slate of other programmes, including Conversations with Friends<\/a> (based on the book of the same name by Normal People\u2019s Sally Rooney).<\/p> Martin Freeman, of Black Panther and The Hobbit franchise fame, will play the titular \u201cfirst responder\u201d, Chris.<\/p>\n Freeman said: \u201cTony Schumacher\u2019s script for The Responder resonated with me immediately.
