Disney\u2019s latest musical Encanto is now available in cinemas \u2013 making it the 60th animated film to be released by the beloved studio.<\/p>\n

The film is the first from the House of Mouse to be set in Latin America, and co-director Byron Howard recently revealed to RadioTimes.com<\/a> that \u201cevery road led to Colombia\u201d<\/a> when it came to selecting a location for the movie.<\/p>\n

Complete with an original soundtrack full of energetic numbers from Lin-Manuel Miranda, Encanto tells the story of Mirabel Madrigal \u2013 the only member of her extended family not to have been bestowed with a special gift \u2013 as she finds herself trying to save the day when her house\u2019s magic begins to fade.<\/p>\n

The voice cast includes a range of stars with Colombian heritage, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine\u2019s Stephanie Beatriz in the lead role, while Howard (Tangled, Zootopia) and Jared Bush (Frozen II and Moana) share director credits.<\/p>\n

Encanto release date<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Disney\u2019s Encanto is now available in UK cinemas \u2013 having been released on Wednesday, 24th November.<\/p>\n

Unlike previous films released this year including Disney\u2019s live-action hit movie Cruella<\/a> and the Pixar Animation Studio\u2019s film Luca<\/a>, Walt Disney Animation Studios will not release the film simultaneously in cinemas and on its streaming platform,\u00a0Disney Plus<\/a> \u2013 although it will be added to the platform in due course.<\/p>\n

When is Encanto on Disney Plus?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Encanto will hit streaming 30 days after its release in cinemas, which means it will debut on Disney Plus on 24th December, 2021, according to Collider<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Of course, this is so that children all around the globe can watch The Madrigal\u2019s magical adventure in time for Christmas.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, there\u2019s a lot to look forward to this November<\/a> as Disney Plus celebrates its second birthday since it first launched in the US.<\/p>\n

An array of films and TV series will be released on the service including Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings<\/a>, Home Alone reboot Home Sweet Home Alone, the streaming debuts of Jungle Cruise<\/a> and the second season of The World According to Jeff Goldblum.<\/p>\n

The cast of Encanto is led by Stephanie Beatriz, who voices Disney Princess Mirabel. Beatriz is best known for her role in\u00a0Brooklyn Nine-Nine<\/a> and, more recently, her singing and dancing in the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical In The Heights<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Undercover Law\u2019s Mar\u00eda Cecilia Botero\u00a0is the voice of\u00a0Mirabel\u2019s grandmother Abuela Alma, in both the English and Spanish versions of the film.<\/p>\n

Jessica Darrow (Following Hannah Stone) is the voice of Mirabel\u2019s older sister Luisa, while Diane Guerrero (Doom Patrol) plays another sister, Isabela.<\/p>\n

In addition, Angie Cepeda (Halo)\u00a0plays Julieta,\u00a0Mirabel\u2019s mother, who can heal with her cooking, while\u00a0Mauro Castillo\u00a0(El Joe)\u00a0is the voice of Mirabel\u2019s uncle, F\u00e9lix, and Carolina Gaitan (Narcos) the voice of her aunt Pepa.<\/p>\n

The cast is rounded out by Wilmer Valderrama (Onward) as\u00a0August\u00edn,\u00a0the singer Adassa as\u00a0Dolores, Rhenzy Feliz (Runaways) as Camilo and John Leguizamo (John Wick: Chapter 2) as Bruno.<\/p>\n
