Jodie Whittaker\u2019s final series of Doctor Who<\/a> came to a conclusion last night and while we know the Doctor will be regenerating after a trio of 2022 specials, what will happen to her companions Yaz (Mandip Gill) and Dan (John Bishop)?<\/p>\n

Doctor Who fans recently voted in favour of keeping Yaz and Dan on the show<\/a>, and Gill has revealed that she would \u201cnever say never\u201d to reprising her role as Yaz in the next series, adding that there doesn\u2019t need to be \u201ca whole new cast every time\u201d the Doctor regenerates.<\/p>\n

Speaking to\u00a0 RadioTimes.com<\/a>\u00a0a few weeks ago in an exclusive interview, the BBC star said that although she isn\u2019t sure what\u2019s in store for her character, she wouldn\u2019t rule out continuing as Yaz on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know where the specials and that are heading for everyone\u2019s character, you know?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s great about Doctor Who is that the audience are so open to old and new characters all the time. They don\u2019t need a whole new cast every time it starts with a new Doctor.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut at the same time when that does happen, like it did happen for us [in 2018], they\u2019re also massively on board with that. This show is open to so many options.\u201d<\/p>

She added: \u201cYou also never know with this series, a lot of why it works is because there are a lot of secrets, and then a lot of revelation. And it\u2019s really exciting. And that\u2019s actually what people love is that they don\u2019t know what\u2019s around the corner, but they always get to guess.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for whether she\u2019d stay on with the new Doctor, Gill said: \u201cI\u2019ve loved every minute of the journey. And actually, that\u2019d be some time in the future that that would happen. But I\u2019d say\u2026 never say never.\u201d<\/p>\n
