There have been plenty of rumours about certain Marvel characters returning in new Disney Plus series Hawkeye<\/a>, and following the arrival of Florence Pugh\u2019s Yelena Belova in episode four<\/a>, hopes were high about who else could turn up in the series\u2019 penultimate instalment.<\/p>\n

And those hopes were not in vain. A long-rumoured (and much-theorised) Marvel character did finally make a brief appearance in the latest episode, hinting at a major comeback in the series finale.<\/p>\n

Look away now if you don\u2019t want to see spoilers for Hawkeye episode five\u2026<\/p>

\u2026because after weeks of wondering, we\u2019ve finally seen the official MCU return of Kingpin! Yes, Vincent D\u2019Onofrio\u2019s acclaimed turn as the crime lord did not end with the Netflix<\/a> Daredevil series, with his character now officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.<\/p>\n

Previously in the series we\u2019ve seen him hinted at as the \u201cbig man\u201d behind the Tracksuit mafia and other criminal groups, and as Maya\u2019s (Alaqua Cox ) \u201cuncle\u201d \u2013 but the latest episode laid all the cards on the table, revealing Kingpin as both the boss of the Tracksuit mafia and (possibly) the figure behind the conspiracy in Hawkeye more generally.<\/p>\n

A few more hints in this episode presaged his return \u2013 a couple more references to the \u2018Big Man\u2019, the name of the Tracksuits\u2019 business front being \u2018Fat Man Auto Sales\u2019 \u2013 before Yelena (Pugh) dropped the bombshell to Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) that her mother Eleanor (Vera Farmiga) was the woman who hired her to kill Clint.<\/p>\n
But the real smoking gun for Kate\u2019s mother\u2019s villainy? A picture of her with D\u2019Onofrio, wearing Wilson Fisk\u2019s signature white suit.<\/p>\n
