When we left him at the end of season two, Tristan had retaken his veterinary exams and was waiting for his results \u2013 while also enjoying a \u2018casual\u2019 relationship with the local barmaid Maddie (or at least, that\u2019s what he assumes).<\/p>\n
Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Callum Woodhouse teased that the Christmas special would be an \u201ceven bigger turning point\u201d for his character than season two episode six, during which Tristan finally realised that he truly wanted to be a vet.<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, it was [a turning point]. I guess episode six was as well, and [Tristan] deciding that he enjoys helping the people as much as the animals. But this is an even bigger turning point,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Asked about his character\u2019s relationship with Maddie, he teased: \u201cI think he\u2019s always gonna have a soft spot for Maddie, as she will for him as well. But yeah, this is a turning point isn\u2019t it, in the sense that he\u2019s just maturing a bit. He\u2019s just realising a lot of things. Yeah, I think \u2018maturing\u2019 would probably be the right word.\u201d<\/p>\n At the end of season two, the threat of World War Two lingered over Darrowby\u2019s residents. Does Woodhouse think that the war will impact the show\u2019s feel-good factor in the future?<\/p>\n \u201cIt will in some way, yeah. There\u2019s no way of denying it. It [World War Two] wasn\u2019t the happiest of times. But I definitely think, you know, you\u2019ve got those characters who all look out for each other.
