Dwayne Johnson has responded to Vin Diesel\u2019s public invitation for him to return to the Fast & Furious<\/a> fold, calling it \u201cmanipulation\u201d and reaffirming that he won\u2019t be reprising his role as Lucas Hobbs .<\/p>\n

Back in November, Diesel sparked rumours Johnson could potentially return when he issued a very public invitation on Instagram<\/a>, urging him to make an appearance in the tenth instalment of the franchise.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world awaits the finale of \u2018Fast 10,\u2019\u201d Diesel wrote. \u201cAs you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don\u2019t send well wishes\u2026 but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love\u2026 but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle [as] you have a very important role to play.\u201d[sic]<\/p>\n

However, Johnson recently told CNN that he was \u201cvery surprised\u201d by Diesel\u2019s social media post, criticising how the actor \u201cbrought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker\u2019s death\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very surprised by Vin\u2019s recent post,\u201d he said. \u201cI told him [Diesel] directly \u2013 and privately \u2013 that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return,\u201d he explained.<\/div>\n

Johnson continued: \u201cVin\u2019s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn\u2019t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker\u2019s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding.\u201d<\/div>\n
