{"id":9548,"date":"2022-01-05T14:00:35","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T13:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=1544438"},"modified":"2022-01-05T14:24:11","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T13:24:11","slug":"natascha-mcelhone-stars-in-first-trailer-for-hotel-portofino","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/natascha-mcelhone-stars-in-first-trailer-for-hotel-portofino\/","title":{"rendered":"Natascha McElhone stars in first trailer for Hotel Portofino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"><\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Patrick Cremona\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Wednesday, 05 January 2022 at 12:00 am<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Natascha McElhone leads the cast of new BritBox period drama Hotel Portofino \u2013 and <a href=\"&quot;https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/&quot;\">RadioTimes.com<\/a> can reveal an exclusive first look at the trailer.<\/p>\n<p>The series \u2013 which premieres on the streaming service on Thursday 27th January \u2013 tells the story of Bella Ainsworth (McElhone), the daughter of a wealthy industrialist who travels from the UK to the titular Italian village to set up a hotel in the 1920s.<\/p>\n<p>In the trailer, we see the hotel described as \u201ca classic English hotel on the Italian Riviera\u201d while Bella\u2019s son Lucian explains that the reason behind his family\u2019s decision to set up a hotel in Italy was to give them \u201ca fresh start\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, all sorts of major drama is teased \u2013 including what looks like an act of art theft, a showdown with an Italian fascist, and the arrival of the local police, so it looks like guests at the hotel might not be treated to a particularly relaxing stay.<\/p>\n<p>You can check out the full trailer below, ahead of the launch of the series later this month.<\/p>\n<div class=\"&quot;embed&quot;\"> <div class=\"&quot;embed__intrinsic&quot;\"> <video data-video-id=\"6290102848001\" data-account=\"69912529001\" data-player=\"ByeOf0VZEl\" data-embed=\"&quot;default&quot;\" data-application-id=\"\" class=\"&quot;video-js&quot;\" controls=\"\"\/><script src=\"&quot;\/\/players.brightcove.net\/69912529001\/ByeOf0VZEl_default\/index.min.js&quot;\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div> <p>McElhone is joined in the cast by Mark Umbers (Collateral) and Anna Chancellor (Four Weddings and a Funeral) as well as a string of Italian stars including Daniele Pecci, Lorenzo Richelmy, and Rocco Fasano.<\/p>\n<p>A full synopsis of the series, which also features a whodunnit mystery as part of its story, reads: \u201cThe Hotel has only been open a few weeks, but the guests including the imperious Lady Latchmere are demanding and hard-to-please.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBella Ainsworth the co-proprietor and moving spirit behind the hotel, quickly finds herself being targeted by a scheming and corrupt local politician, Signor Danioni (Pasquale Esposito), who threatens to drag her into the red-hot political cauldron of Mussolini\u2019s Italy.\u201d<\/p> <p>The series is created and written by Professor T and Before We Die scribe Matt Baker, while Adam Wimpenny is in the director\u2019s chair.
