As Caroline Hollick, Channel 4\u2019s Head of Drama, explains: \u201cScrew offers the audience an insight in to the challenges and struggles faced behind bars for both prisoners and officers; told with humour, humanity and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n
The gripping series is set almost entirely within the confines of the fictional Long Marsh Prison, and viewers will no doubt be left wondering about where the show was filmed, and whether Long Marsh is a real place.<\/p>\n

Once you step through the gates, you\u2019re actually in this sort of living, breathing, breathing prison with 100 or so cells, most of which can open and lock.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are offices and pool tables, classrooms and medical stores\u2026 You\u2019d be forgiven for thinking that the series is going to look claustrophobic or samey, but it\u2019s exactly the opposite because these three levels allow the camera to sweep from one place to another\u2026 You can go from level one to level three, into a cell and out to the office, all in one. It makes it really dynamic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sosanya\u2019s co-star Jamie-Lee O\u2019Donnell added: \u201cEvery single time someone walked onto the set for the first time, you could see their jaw drop as they took in the vastness of it. You forget that it\u2019s not a real building because it\u2019s so well made and authentic \u2013 even the doors are really heavy. I slammed my finger in one of them on the last scene of the last day, which was pretty painful!\u201d<\/p>\n
