Channel 4 soap Brookside can have.<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">He commented: \u201cThere needs to be something like a Brookside or a Grange Hill because we seem to have lost that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">\u201cIt\u2019s almost as though contemporary drama has been no-platformed in television. Drama that\u2019s really difficult has dropped back into being single dramas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">He added that current soaps were doing their purpose, but argued that broadcasters should \u201cpush\u201d them further.<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\">Sir Phil recommended challenging topics such as focusing on county lines drugs issues and sexting as storylines in continuing dramas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"&quot;p1&quot;\"><strong>The Grange Hill film will be released later this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking for something else to watch?
