That\u2019s the interesting part of this story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nThough there\u2019s a glamour to the series courtesy of its gorgeous locations and themes of plundering the seas for lost treasures, Miller hopes the more hard-hitting themes that lie beneath the surface will resonate with La Fortuna\u2019s audience. \u201cCulture is beautiful \u2013 we must keep celebrating it, because it\u2019s what makes the world a freaking interesting place,\u201d she said. \u201cBut we must not glorify colonialism, glorify the bloodshed and the genocide, in the name of f**king arts and culture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nLa Fortuna is directed and co-written by Amen\u00e1bar \u2013 an established player in the world of cinema but taking his first steps into the world of television. If adapting to a new medium was a challenge for the Spanish-Chilean filmmaker though, Miller says \u201cyou would never know it\u201d.<\/p>\n
