For the second year running, the Scottish Association of Family History Societies (SAFHS) is taking its annual conference online. There will be a full programme of talks from family historians, with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Speakers include Irene O’Brien from Glasgow City Archives, Myko Clelland from Findmypast (find mypast.co.uk), Fiona Musk from NHS Grampian Archives, Emma Maxwell from Scottish Indexes (scottishindexes.com), Jill Williams from Irish Genealogy (irishgenealogy.ie), and Ken Nisbet from the Scottish Genealogy Society and the SAFHS. The talks will incorporate records of the poor, crimes, migration, kirk sessions and records from asylums and institutions as to the effects poverty and ‘hard times’ had on people’s health. The event will be officiated by Lord Lyon, king of arms. Free.
