Family history website Findmypast is inviting users to submit their stories of family mysteries that were solved by the release of the 1921 census for England and Wales.

The census, consisting of 38 million records, was released on Findmypast on 6 January this year.

Now, Findmypast want to hear from users who made a crucial discovery about family or local history thanks to the 1921 census.

Findmypast said: “Did the 1921 census unlock a family mystery? Did you find a missing piece of the puzzle that completes the picture? If you solved a long-standing riddle using the 1921 census, uncovered a secret about your home, or cracked the case of a centuries-old local myth, now is your time to shine.”

With users’ consent, Findmypast will feature their stories in the press or on the Findmypast blog and social media accounts.

Everyone who enters their story will be entered in a sweepstakes to win a 3-month Pro subscription to Findmypast worth £56.97.

To take part, simply email your family story to discoveries@findmypast.com or enter it on this webpage by 10am UK time on Monday 3 October.
