The Archives and Records Association (ARA) is asking members of the public to nominate their favourite record-keeping service or record keeper for recognition in the ARA Excellence Awards.

The Awards are returning in 2022 after a two-year break during the covid pandemic.

There are three categories for which anyone can suggest a nomination, including self-nominations: the Distinguished Service Award, which “recognises individual conservators, archivists or records managers for career-long achievement and/or outstanding work”; Record Keeper of the Year, which “acknowledges achievement by an individual archivist, conservator or records manager within the last eighteen months at any career stage”; and Record Keeping Service of the Year, which “recognises achievements by an archive, conservation or records management service or operation within the last eighteen months”.

The fourth category, the New Professional of the Year Award, is not open to public nominations or self nomination.

To nominate an archive service or professional who you believe deserves an award, go to the ARA website, download and complete the nomination form and email it to the ARA.

The deadline for nominations is 1 June.

Winners will be announced at ARA’s 2022 Conference in Chester on 1 September.

The ARA represents archive services in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
