What is DNA Journey?

DNA Journey is ITV’s new family history series. Similar to BBC One’s Who Do You Think You Are?, it follows celebrities who want to discover more about their family history, but with a couple of differences – each episode will pair up two celebrities, and they’ll use DNA tests to start their journey.

DNA Journey began with a 2019 show following Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly as they uncovered their family histories. It is produced by Ant and Dec’s production company Mitre Television, along with Voltage TV. This was followed by a three-episode series in 2021.

When is DNA Journey on TV?

ITV has just announced that DNA Journey will return in 2022. Series 2 will be broadcast in two parts – part one will go out in April 2022, and part 2 in the autumn. The first series of DNA Journey is available to watch on ITV Hub.

Who appears on DNA Journey?

In part one of series 2 of DNA Journey, the celebrity pairs will be ice-skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean; actors Maureen Lipman and Rula Lenska; and The Chase stars Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace. Part two will feature comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan; actors Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb; comedians Joel Dommett and Tom Allen; and TV presenters Kate Garraway and Alison Hammond.

The first series featured cricketer Freddie Flintoff and footballer Jamie Redknapp; TV personalities Alan Carr and Amanda Holden; and Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet with his DJ son Roman.
