Q<\/span><\/strong> Minnie Bibby Algar was born to<\/span> my widowed great grandmother, Elizabeth Algar, on 20 March 1884 at Nash, Buckinghamshire. She was with her mother at Great Horwood, <\/span>Buckinghamshire, on the 1891 census. On the 1901 census, she was a servant at Middle Claydon, Buckinghamshire, and in 1911, she was a servant at Reigate, Surrey. I can\u2019t find her in any records after this date.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

A <\/span><\/strong>As well as UK records, I searched those for the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The marriage index for New Zealand on Ancestry (ancestry.co.uk<\/a>) has a Minnie Algar marrying David George Sparks in 1913. They can be found in the Auckland area in electoral rolls from 1919 up to 1972.<\/p>\n\n

This is your Minnie, because her date of birth is given as 20 March 1884 in the results of a death search for her. For birth, marriage and death information from New Zealand, you can use the New Zealand government\u2019s website at bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz<\/a>. <\/strong>Searching is free, but email copies of printouts of the records each cost NZ$25 (around \u00a313.21).<\/p>\n\n

Minnie and David had two children: David Jack Sparks (born in 1914), and a daughter Algar Sparks (born in 1917). David Jack married Frances Mary Jackson in 1938, but Algar remained unmarried. Neither David nor Algar seems to have had children.<\/p>\n\n

David George Sparks died in 1975, Minnie in 1982 (aged 98) and Algar in 1991. All three were cremated at Purewa Cemetery, Auckland. David Jack died in 1993, but I could find no record of a burial or cremation for him.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

FamilySearch\u2019s collection of New Zealand passenger lists at familysearch.org\/search\/collection\/1609792<\/a> <\/strong>reveals that David George Sparks and Minnie travelled to New Zealand on the Shaw Savill and Albion line\u2019s ship Tainui. <\/em>It left London on 20 July 1911.<\/p>\n\n
