{"id":31794,"date":"2024-03-11T12:30:54","date_gmt":"2024-03-11T11:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/a140fecc-7893-4b35-a945-06133336904f"},"modified":"2024-03-13T11:34:25","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T10:34:25","slug":"historic-guinness-employee-records-go-online","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/wdytya\/rss_feed\/historic-guinness-employee-records-go-online\/","title":{"rendered":"Historic Guinness employee records go online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"><\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Rosemary Collins\n      <\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Monday, 11 March 2024 at 11:30 AM<\/p><hr class=\"no-tts wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body><p>Over 1.6 million historic records of employees at Dublin\u2019s famous Guinness Storehouse have been published online in time for St Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p><p>The records were digitised by family history website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancestry.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Ancestry<\/a> in partnership with the Guinness Storehouse Archives.<\/p><p>Ancestry has added two sets of records \u2013 \u2018Guinness Trade Ledgers, 1860-1960\u2019 (consisting of 1,452,426 records) and \u2018Guinness Employee Records, 1799-1939\u2019 (consisting of 204,605 records).<\/p><p>Although many of the employees were based in Dublin, there are also employees based in London, Cork and anywhere Guinness had breweries. During the First World War, many employees are marked as &#8216;Army Candidate&#8217;. <\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A ledger of Guinness employee records recently published on Ancestry<\/figcaption><\/figure><p>Todd Goddfrey, Vice President of Global Content at Ancestry, said: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to give people a chance to connect with a new part of their heritage and fill any gaps in their family trees.
